Sick solutions supported by artificial intelligence for environment and people detection
With Visionary AI-Assist, SICK provides a sensor solution based on AI that enables anti-collision functionality in outdoor environments and integrated environmental monitoring with people detection. This solution combines 2D and 3D image processing. It reliably recognises people and objects and determines their distance from the sensor. The integrated AI ensures people detection and prevents false alarms even under difficult conditions.
The Visionary AI-Assist sensor solution consists of two components: the Visionary-B Two 3D stereo camera and the AI-Assist software. The camera is used for distance measurement, object and environment detection in indoor and outdoor areas. The AI-Assist software uses artificial intelligence for people detection. In this way, it is possible to assess hazards in the working area of a mobile machine and trigger an alarm.
All-in-one device for 2D and 3D environment detection in outdoor applications
Visionary AI-Assist combines detection, processing and data output in a single device. Therefore, no additional sensor hardware, separate controller or cloud connection is required. Through stereoscopy, Visionary AI-Assist captures two-dimensional images, from which three-dimensional point clouds are generated. Due to their mechanical structure, the stereo camera is particularly suitable for use in difficult conditions. The camera's field of view can be adjusted (130° x 105° up to 16 metres operating distance or 90° x 60° up to 37 metres operating distance). In addition, it is possible to customise the area in which to detect people or objects. The system is thus flexible to meet the most diverse requirements.
Flexible integration via standard interfaces
Thanks to platform-independent configuration and visualisation via web browser, Visionary AI-Assist can be managed flexibly. For connection to external devices, this system solution provides digital inputs and outputs, Ethernet with REST API and live RTSP video streaming as well as the CAN protocol based on J1939. In this way, the system represents an integration for various applications in mobile machines.
Electromagnetic compatibility and robustness
The Visionary AI-Assist solution has been specially developed for mobile machines and meets all the fundamental requirements for outdoor applications: power supply from 10 to 57 V DC, operating temperatures from -40 ℃ to +55 ℃ as well as protection ratings IP67, IP69 and IPx9K. The solution meets electromagnetic compatibility according to EN ISO 14982 (agriculture and forestry), EN 13766 (construction machinery), EN 12895 (forklift trucks), and is tested for resistance to vibration and shock.
Wide range of supplementary accessories
The Visionary AI-Assist solution is suitable both for retrofitting existing mobile work machines and for completely new machines. In both cases, there are several accessories that support integration into vehicles. Well-designed mounting kits – possibly with vibration damping – allow stable long-term mounting on the vehicle. Power and Ethernet communication cables ensure that the necessary power supply and current are available. A protective cover shields the solution from weather conditions such as rain, dust or sunlight.
